Just got back from Bintel and picked up another goodie. The Meade Series 4000 QX 15mm wide view. Just want to hear some opinion's and thoughts on this.

Well, since you already bought it, you might as well tell us your opinion once you had a chance to try it out on different targets. Tonight is not looking too bad. :prey:

just tested the Meade's QX eyepiece. It is much clearer than my standard plossl's which came with the tele. The image is more crisp and sharp. Light gathering seem to be much better with a good wide view. However, i think it gathers too much light as i can't see any pattern's on saturn unlike before.

hmm, i'm thinking of changing this to the televue plossl 15mm. Should i?

Yes. :)

I've been out Saturn watching too. There has been some great seeing tonight.

One thing I should perhaps mention about the plossl: It will not have a wide filed of view like the QX. Have a look at how things look through the QX in the outer 20-30% of the field of view. Do stars/planets remain sharp enough? If not then there is little point having that wide field that is made wide only with blurry views.

hey thanks Steve. Still up checking out saturn and jupiter. Clouds are appearing then disappearing here in Glen Waverley. Mt Waverley should be the same. Got some video's tonight. Will try and process some.

Good Luck in your viewing steve.
