View Full Version here: : Current TV prices in AUD
Has anyone noticed the current TV (new) eyepiece prices at Bintel, as of 4/3/11? The Panoptic 24mm is $260, and Ethos's around $560, these are huge reductions compared to a few years ago. Have they got a sale on just now, and/or is TV in USA (still) feeling the pinch of the financial crisis? Im so tempted.... Fox

It's a combination of the better $AUS/$US exchange rate and Televue currently running a 20% off sale until April 17th, 2011. The real reason for the sale could be that Televue are feeling the pinch of the financial crisis and sales by their competition, e.g., Explore Scientific.

QFT
ES was really taking a big slice of the market. Their sale made their 100 degree eyepieces nearly half the price of the TV Ethos. Eyepiece reviews on CN indicate the difference between the ES and the TV is subtle too.
So they are nearly an ethos for nearly half the price? Why the hell not?
I tend to agree; the cuts sure are dramatic. Fox :)

Televue have had similar sales before though and local prices were reduced accordingly. The great thing is that in Bintel, we've got an Aussie importer who passes on the savings to their customers.
Meade's Coronado division has had some great specials in the US lately, but I didn't notice the same price cuts being extended to the local marketplace by whoever is their agent here.

I agree, I'm a pragmatic consumer. I'll pay 10 to 20% more to support local business and have local backup etc, but not more. It's great to see Bintel so competitive ... now if only I needed more EPs !
