I thought I had commented on all of your images but missed this one.
I think there is some Karma going on here John, SE Queensland has been through such a horrendous time, reckon it is just great that the weather is now producing such stunning conditions to image in, especially with this great storm still raging across the planet.

Thanks everyone, we now have storms and thunder crashing down with the house shaking.

Asimov (John) got me worried saying seeing had been mediocre where he was for several years so was regretting the move here - not any more!

I upgraded from an economy 10inch to a high class 14inch but with more weight and have not regretted it as the extra reach is obvious when the skies allow.

Not sure when the next clear sky is but no doubt the good seeing will end at some point so heres hoping it doesn't end soon.

There's not many left in QLD that do what we do;)

I've been 'averaging out' conditions in your neck of the woods, & mine & all I can work out is 'it's the luck of the draw' :lol: Considering I haven't seen anything remotely like your seeing since november last year, I'm obviously living in the wrong area of QLD. I'd love to be about 100KM further inland. That's where the good seeing seems to be happening. Living right on the coast is very detrimental to conditions, for me at least.

Garrillaga that 20inch mirror from OO sound wonderful, they make mirrors to 1/10 wavefront measured at 632.8nm (measured with Zygo interf equipment), but a 20inch may be too difficult to make to that standard so even if it is 1/6 wvfrt it will still perform brilliantly.

OO will make mirrors to any standard it just might cost too much to be worthwhile and at 20inches improvement may not be noticable. They give a interferemeter report with the mirror and Hilux coating is 97% at 550nm and 95% at 656nm and will really lift a 20inch Newt's power.
