I have been watching events unfold in your homeland. Tears run down my face at your strength & determination.

My heart aches with the pain you feel.

My saddness & pride in your actions grips my throat with the memories of the pain my homeland of Uruguay has gone through too.

I so much hope peace finds you soon.

I didn't intend to comment on Egypt because of the TOS but, yes, it is in my thoughts and I'm following the news closely.

I wonder if the Egyptian president had simply allowed the MB

some involvement in the political process then this sorry mess wouldn't of occured.

Its hard to see what this groups agenda is these days, its past isn't exactly a peacefull exersise..I guess its really up to the people to choose there own destiny

There is nothing to joke about.

A dictator (the Shah) was uninstalled in Iran in 1979.
The restart wasn't a democratic revolution.

Let's hope Egypt doesn't go down the same line.
Let's also hope the persecution of Coptic Egyptians doesn't esculate.

Regards

Steven

Unlikely. Suez is far too important. The egyptian army controls the country. They'll swap one general for another one to preserve US influence. The alternative is radical: muslim brotherhood. Not pretty.

I'm tipping this will happen. The "Muslim Brotherhood" (what a joke), will try and make a run for control of the country...although that depends on how far into the armed forces they've dug their claws.

Anytime where religion and politics gets mixed up with one another, trouble comes everyone's way.

In which case, be prepared for an influx of Coptic Christians from Egypt.

The next year will be a test of just how "free and democratic" Egypt really is, or turns out to be. Given that part of the world's propensity for going off the deep end, I doubt either word will get a say in edgewise. But, we may get lucky.

Freedom and democracy are states of mind that I'm afraid much of the world haven't caught onto yet and most likely wont for quite some time to come.
