Hi All, I would like to put the caldwell catalog in to Maxim 4.6 but cannot see how to do it, any help will be very much appreciated.

Why not use an ASCOM hub and connect your favourite planetarium software that has all the possible catalogue you could want to MaximDL. MaximDL by nature is a data acquisition/processing tool, not a catalogue reference database engine. This would give you the best flexibility.

Hi Jase, Never thought of that, but by hub which do you mean, in telescope control > setup > telescope > options > choose are generic hub, meade lx200gps/r, meade rcx telescope and focuser, pipe diagnostic tool. in focuser > choose are generic hub, meade lx200gps/r, meade rcx telescope, pipe diagnostic tool, poth plain old telescope handset, so which do I use, afraid not very good at seting things up.

POTH (plain old telescope hub) is part of the ascom drivers in both maxim and starrynight and when selected both programs will work together through the same hub so as to not confuse the computer/scope. To select do the following.
For maxim V5
observatory ---> telescope----> setup-----> POTH hub
For starry night pro 6
telescope ------> configure -----> POTH hub
You will have to configure both to suit your scope under the properties tab and it will work. Any ASCOM compliant planetarium program should have the POTH hub available as an option to connect your scope.

Peter just find the scope connect in each program then set POTH as the connection. You will need to set LX200 as your scope in both via the properties tab. It should work for the LX400 or RCX as they were called.
