I would agree with Paul 100%. This software is such a time saver and if all you want to do is focus it is as easy as. :thumbsup: All the other additional functionality is an exceptional bonus.

For me this software is up there in my top three for cheap essential imaging softare. Registax, K3CCDToolsV2 and DSLR Focus. For my mind if you are starting out with astroimaging planets then the first two are an essential. If trying your hand at DSOs with a Canon DSLR the second two are essential.

DSLR is definately a must have for Canon (and Nikon) users.

All though I dont have to use this software with my 20DA to focus I still do on occassions just to check my focus.

I'm with both Pauls....I only use a small part of this program in the way of all my timed long exposures and it's fantastic.

You can apply mirror lock which is a huge must which you can not apply with canon timer's.....I just set it all and walk away...come back in hour or so when it's finished...lol

I would put it in my top 4 software programs with Images plus 2.5, Photoshop CS and Guidedog.

And where is some support for the poor old Pentax Eh? You canon people have all the fun!
Nice review, makes me want to go out and get it, but then I would have to get the 20da or the 5d.

If I remember correctly you can use other DSLRs with it you just need to tell DSLR Focus where your remote capture is located. Better yet check with Chris Venter if the pentax are compatible

The website indicates it works with any camera as long as it meets certain requirements, my reading of it is that the Pentax *istds is OK.

had a talk with Mr Ponders via Skype and it seems as though the software will only do the focus manually and not download or control the Pentax. and it is around the 40 dollar mark. so must get cable and patience! ;)
