Luckily I was expecting some more rain for BrisVegas and so I took my computers and scopes etc inside so that only the G11 mount was in the observatory.
While I was having a lunch with my work-mates (as I was retiring that Friday), two villans managed to find the spare set of keys and absolutely violate my inner sanctum sanctorum.
Bloody Elvis poster (from an impersonator I meet on the plane trip from Melbourne to Brisbane), garden gnomes, Xmas tinsel and fake UFOs adorned the observatory. Have to purge the girl germs my wife and her mate left behind. One wonders what they got up to while no one was looking. :eyepop:
Anyway what it now means that I can pull an all nighter and not have to worry about work in the morning... HOOray!!!!!

Best wishes for a long & happy "third life".

Can never trust those girl vandals - better check your spyglass for lipstick:-)

Enjoy the peace before your new life becomes busy.

Congratulations on your retirement Allan. Lets hope you get some nice weather and nice clear skies.
Nearing this point in my life myself but still need a few more toys so work is still a financial requirement. Looking forward to joining you on the retirement evenings.
I suppose your theme song now is: The working class can kiss my #### a bludgers job I've got at last.

Have fun Mate.

Well whos the lucky ducky then Allen ... I mean I realize that retirement usually goes hand in hand with the onset of ones twilight years ... but hey ... the numbers are in the box mate, so ya might as well make the most of it ... Great thing about astronomy as a hobby ... its really interesting, a heap of fun, most of the time it rewards you for your input and it consumes a lot of time and thats something you've plenty of now ... So it would seem Astronomy and retirement go hand in hand ... Have a great retirement !!!!!

By the title I thought another horror story and break-in or storm damage but then I see you've been invaded by leprechauns. :P Congrats and enjoy all the time out.

Best have it soaked in Gamma radiation and exorcised just in case.
Enjoy your retirement. I'm sure your wife will find lots of things for you to do!

Thanks for all the kind comments. Retirement!!!!!!! I should be so fortunate. I've been breaking parts I never knew existed by landscaping the front of the property putting in a new series of steps and drainage to clear the large amount of water that cascades down the hill and into our property. It's interesting that in Queensland, storm water can just be vented to the ground and not put to a storm water system.
Hopefully I will finish before too much more rain falls.
