Just reminding everyone who wasn't around at the last Jupiter opposition, that there's a fabulous program that many of us here made great use of to plan for moon, shadow and GRS transits across Jupiter.

Just download the self-installing exe, set the language, set your timezone, and "save parameters".

Then just use the "add/subtract" button with the value of your choice (1 hr, example) to cycle through to see what events will be happening when Jupiter will be visible for you.

It's very lightweight on system resources, saves starting up the hungry starrynight pro etc.

Anyway, download it from here:

The author has been very receptive to feedback and suggestions for new features and content, as well and has incorporated some of our ideas into new versions.

Well worth a look.

Another really useful piece of free Jupiter ephemeris software is Planets v2.02.This is in many ways very similar to Jupiter 2 and is available to either use on line or for download at http://www.cpac.org.uk/.
The great advantage of Planets 2.02 over Jupiter 2 (which is execellent) is that you can use it to produce a weekly or monthly table of Moon transits, shadow transits and occulataions and of GRS transits. You'll need to select all the text in the table and press CTRL C to copy the data so that it can be pasted into a program such as Word or Excel for printing.
Planets 2.02 also gives you info on the positions of Saturn's Moons as well.
