Help!:help:
Was out trying to image Saturn the other night but ran into a prob with NexImage.
After adjusting various settings (fps, gain, brightness etc) in the "filter" section of AmCap ... we had what appeared a good image in the preview pane.
But when we clicked to start capture all our settings were lost, possibly back to default settings, and the image was horribly pixelated, vague and there was a ton of noise introduced into the background. The noise looked like lots of blue splotches on the laptop screen.
What are we doing wrong? Are there boxes we need to check/uncheck to make sure we keep the settings we've discovered?
Also, we tried to save our settings as the default settings but the image still changed when we tried to capture.
Any help much appreciated.

not sure mate, hopefully someone with a neximage can help!
Let's hope so, Davo:)
I've got enough on my plate at the moment coming to terms with an EQ6 and SynScan which offers differing results during its alignment procedure from night to night...
and dodgy seeing and temp issues with my 9.25 to not have a webcam decide to chuck a wobbly:lol:
Maybe it would have been best to take up home brewing????

Matt, when you open up the window with the adjustments in it does it have a tab saying 'Apply'.
I forgot to do this a couple of times and my settings changed when I clicked on 'Capture'.
Pretty sure we did, Ken.
But you can never be sure:P
I'll make sure of that next time, but I don't think that's the problem.

Matt, I can't help with the imager, but can you tell me more about the problems you are having with the mount and the 9.25?
My mount works fine and I may have some tips for you given your problems. As for the 9.25 I now use a lymax cooler. Works really well and brings the scope to ambient in about 20 minutes. You don't have to wait half the night for it to reach ambient. I am waiting for my review to be published on the website (Mike can you please publish my review?) of this great piece of equipment. I can thoroughly recommend you get one of these, it will cut out one of the problems right from the start.
Seeing is another issue and totally out of your hands so don't worry about it.
Anyway let me know the issues and I will see what I can do to help. We have the same setup so I am sure I can help.

Not sure what might have gone wrong Matt, but if its a settings problem you might want to consider downloading the free program WcCtrl. It is an alternate interface for adjusting your webcam settings. The beauty of it is that you have finer control of the settings plus you can save up to 6 different settings for saving your favourite settings. Each saved set of settings can then be reloaded at the click of a mouse button.
Thanks guys
Will persevere and give those suggestions a try.
Paul. I like the sound of that webcam interface. I'll download and see how it goes.:)

matt
there is a neximage manual that you can download from the celestron site
are you aware of this ?
maybe helpful ?

Good news fellas. Have worked out the problem.
Like most of us on our "P" plates, I'm prone to rushing through without any plan or method:lol:
I'd forgotten to check the box which confirms the "use frame rate" we'd set in the capture menu. D'oh!!!!:P
Gotta keep an eye on those tricky boxes...
1ponders: Have downloaded that WcCtrl interface program. Looks good. Will let all know how it goes when we get a chance to use it.
I like the numeric values for the settings. Handy for keeping a record of what you've done.
Many thanks
