I am looking for a freeware software plantarium for my netbook (Windows 7, 1.66g CPU, 1g ram) I installed Sterrarium on it but it is too laggy. I am looking to use my netbook in conjunction with my telescope.
Any recommendations are most welcome.
Many thanks

CDC or ECU work well on a netbook
My choice ones:
StarCalc
Cartes du Ciel
CNebulaX (not really a planetarium program, more observation planner)

Many thanks. I presume ECU is Earth Centered Universe?

Stellarium will need openGL drivers. Check with the netbook manufacturer for an update. If not there check the make of screen driver and try them.

Stellarium runs on my netbook. 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM. What specs does yours have?
In fact, Stellarium with StellariumScope and the ASCOM Gemini.net connection to my G11.
CdC and C2A run OK too.
TheSky 6 Pro is a bit slow.

G'day John,
Welcome to IceinSpace!
Another program, that I fire up every now and again, is HNSKY
http://www.hnsky.org/software.htm
Simple display compared with other programs, but fast, doesn't hog PC resources.
It all comes down to what suits your needs.
Cheers

Thanks guys. I am having trouble sourcing openGL drivers. Would they come down in a Windows update?
Specs:
Samsung N130
Windows 7
1.66g CPU
1g ram

Not normally
They should have been on the installation disc for the laptop. If there was no disk you will need to find out what the screen is and search./
Go to samsung www.samsung.com (http://www.samsung.com) downloads and search for VGA_Intel_in7_8.15.10.2176.zip
That should do the job. Its about 22MB.

How did the update go for you John? I tried it on my eeePC 701 with a frame rate ~1fps. Not good i know, but expected with a 1 gig celeron and 512 ram. I'm gonna upgrade ram soon, just curious how much a difference the openGL driver made.

One point to mention is to ensure your CPU/hardware profile is running at max performance. My Netbook defaults to balance so I have to remember to switch. But my s10 runs stellarium ok once I switch to performance.
Load up CPU-z to see if running at max.
