What scope ctrl software do you recomend??

All,
I've decided to look around for a new software package.
I've got a few different packages & database type systems, but have been using The Sky 6 for the last 4yrs. I was going to upgrade to The Sky X, but I thought I'd get some input first.

I mostly do public nights, (I enjoy showing people what's out there), so software with good general information & graphics is a must.

I'm controlling my CG-5 mount (soon to be upgraded) + I also use the lappy connected to the 20" SDM via the Argo & Servo-cat.

At an absolute minimum. I'm looking for scope control software that provides comprhensive "what's up" information & photos of same, along with fast & simple 'click & go' control.
I don't envisage needing any form of dome ctrl.

Starry Night Pro Plus 6 is what you need. Pretty pictures as well as the DSS backdrop of the Milky Way is wonderful. The colours of the stars in the application, therefore, reflect what's in the sky, making it easier to find objects, and make out constellations.

I've been using it for the last 5 years and am regrettably going to make the switch over to TheSky because of its integration with CCDSoft. Well, as far as using it for imaging goes, anyway. In general, I'll stick with SNPP6.

Have a look at Astroplanner.

You have to feed it a list of objects, but the Bambos 600 (another IIS thread) would be an excellent starting point. It then tells you what is visible from your location. It can interface with most common scopes. I'm having a bit of trouble getting my AP working with it, but the LX-90 works fine. You can download a DeepSkySurvey image of your list of objects and store images of these objects as well.

Best of all, its ~$50. Version 1 works well, Version 2 is in Beta. The author responds to requests & bugs promptly too!
