Hi guys.

By default, when I plug my Canon 350D in it's using the Canon camerawindow software to download it to the computer. I've tried it for a while, but decided I prefer the inbuilt Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard, which is much faster and lets me name the directory it's copying to, easier.

So, where do I change the association of which program it launches when I turn the camera on?

I just want to disassociate the CameraWindow and so next time it asks me i'll choose the Microsoft Camera Wizard and associate that.

Thanks

Don't you get a program selection window open up after you plug in and turn the camera on? Can't help you with it much Mike as I don't download direct from the camera. USB card reader man myself.

Maybe after you start the camera, close the app that opens, go into windows explorer, navigate to the camera and right click on the camera drive/folder and see if there is an option to select the app you want

Try looking in
START-->ALL PROGRAMS-->STARTUP
If there is an icon for the camerawindow launcher program delete it then reboot

hi mike, theres 2 ways to go about this...

1. in control panel/folder options you can change file associations... ie what files open with.

2. maybe its just your camera but every camera i have seen so far (obviously not many) shows as a removable drive in my computer...

this is assuming i have understood the question :P

Not sure exactly what you are asking Mike but when the window opens giving the associated programs to choose...cant you just browse to the program you want as default and tick the box to associate this program permanantly.

If it is not listed just browse to the home directory and find the EXE file.

I hope this is what your after.

It's alright guys, found it.

Striker that's what I meant, but I'd already chosen the "always do this action" and I couldn't figure out where to change that action.

But now I have, plug in the camera, go to windows explorer and right-click on the device, choose "properties".

Then there's a tab called "Events" and you can choose what to do.

Easy!
