Could be a defective row.

Unless you have a Sony Trinitron in your Toshiba!

Warranty claim? A few dead/hot pixels might be considered acceptable. A whole row? No way.

Doesn't look good you might have to do what Erick did and replace the screen he did it himself after downloading the workshop manual.

Might be time to back everything up onto external drive and get a new lappy or a screen replacement. More damned expence.
Sorry to hear it Tony.:(

Tony, It may not be the screen thats at fault, well not the pixels anyway, looks like there are failing components on the screens driver board. (Not the graphics adapter, but the circuit board that drives all the pixels) If you can hook up an external monitor, this may help with determining where the problem lies.. If the Laptop is under warranty, return for repair or replacement, If not, then its still a tech repair job I would say, and maybe time for an upgrade;) if the repairs are going to cost $$$

Looks like the connection from the screen to the driver board. If you now have three, I would say the connection is starting to lift. It may be a flexible circuit board type of connection and they are letting go. See if you can get it fixed under warranty? It will probably progress and you will just continue to loose more lines.

I think the warranty s ran out... I have 6 lines now... Is there anything I can do with out spending $$$?

As I mentioned earlier in this Thread you could look to buy a screen online and change it yourself

I have an old 486 Laptop that needed a bit of push on the side of the screen to make contact with the strip connector - try running your fingers around the outside edge - press quite hard and see if it makes a difference - it's possible there is corrosion of just a faulty connection.

Although in that case it wasnt just one line it was a repeating pattern.
