Hi,

have just taked some shots of Eta Carina using an 8" f4 GSO newt, Baader 7nm H alpha filter and QHY8 OSC camera. Have googled for processing suggestions, but was wondering what sort of work flow or processing options people here would use for images like these? Process as per normal then just dispose of the G and B channels?

cheers
Gary

Don't forget to convert your red channel to black and white!

With a 7nm Ha you capture very little Green and Blue so it is really a waste to go to the trouble of dumping these colours. Just take the image into PShop and goto " Image", Mode, select greyscale or black and white and thats the image.
Just remember that even if the image was done with a mono camera, it would capture all photons passing through the filter be they blue or green so the Ha filter on a OSC is no different.
Keep then all but just change to grey scale.

Simple really.
