SBIG drivers under Windows 7

Some help please. I'm need to load drivers for my SBIG ST-7 into Windows 7. But when I use the SBIG DriverCjecker utility, I get the message that Windows can't uncompress the archive that is downloaded and suggests I turn off the firewall. Well I've done that too but it makes no difference. Anyone got any clues?

Where has it downloaded the files to?

Make sure they're somewhere other than the Program Files directory.

Anywhere else on C drive might be a good idea, or an external drive/USB key.

Pity, but they don't make it that intuitive. The utility opens an internet connection, downloads an achive and gives you no say in where it goes (nor info on it) and when Win7 says it can't open the archive, it deletes it and closes the internet connection; and there is no means of browsing to a local file location either. So it's the SBIG way or no way I'm afraid. And Win 7 isn't playing.

Which browser are you using you can set the download location in the browser if you are using firefox when the download starts it will ask whether you want to open the file or save it to your location of choice.

Hi Warren. The problem is you don't use a browser to do this. You have to use the SBIG driver update utility. It's not a browser issue.

What if you find the executable for the driver update utility and move it temporarily to another location.

Or, try right-clicking the utility and running it as administrator?

Peter, you need to get the drivers on the hard drive at least. Can you download them directly? Once you have them, in a pinch, you can go to device manage and manually update drivers from there. I got some Windows 2000 drivers to install in Windows 7 for an old scsi card the other day. It gave a warning about digital signatures but it worked just fine :)
