Hi all,

My 7 year old Dell desktop (XP) has started to do some funny things and I think it is time to move on. Does anyone have any recomendations where I can purchase a new PC locally (not a Mac)? I would like to be able to customise it a bit and I dont need a monitor. I could get another Dell but it seems that over the time I have had this one just about everything in it has had to be replaced. I would like to give someone else a go.

Should I be considering 64 bit Windows7 or is 32 bit OK. It will only be used for the usual "home" functions, eg: word, excel, image processing, internet access etc.

Thanks,

Neale.

A family member of mine put me onto this guy, I was a bit reluctant buying it over the net but all was fine.

Just be aware if you go 64 bit all your drivers must be digitally signed by microsoft they say it is a security feature but I dispute that because if it were for security why don't they inforce it in their 32 bit version so if you have any hardware that does not provide digitally signed drivers go with 32 bit but other than that I recommend Win7 also 64 bit allows you to make use of more than 3 Gig of ram 32 bit can only use upto about 3 Gig.

Thanks Guys,

I have just been to the Dell website and the one I was looking at only comes with 64 bit Windows 7. There are also several choices, Professional Ultimate etc. and various processor options, i5 and i7. Too many choices for a chronic ditherer like me! Might head out to the Goodguys and see what they have.
