OK, I agree with most of you that my LRGB Rosette looked a little
"burned out" around the outer core. So I decided to reprocess the
data.
I like this second processing better; It still retains the detail and
the dust (thank goodness) but the area rimming the core does not
appear as burnt out and "flat" to me. True? No? Better? Worse? To see
the original just click "Back".

Thanks for your advise.

Ah well well, a Davis doing a Sidonio ...I'd do a Davis but I don't get to the really dark skies necessary to reveal all that dust well...so lets just do the Macarena instead

Yes I think this version is a bit better but it still looks not quite right to me...:confuse3:perhaps your pantented dust revealing process is creating a non matching transition between the main nebula and the outer regions of faint stuff and the inner region is a little too pink

Still, overall a striking image

Colour still seems very different to the way the rosette is usually shown.. It is much better though, the sidonio shows a lot more texture in the red rim, better contrast on the dust, stars seem a little reduced.. I like it..

Hi Tom, although you've managed to bring lot more details and contrast in this version I liked the original process. As a whole this picture looks "flatter". Somehow the dynamic range and luminosity in the first one was just right to me. But again it's personal taste. Like colors.

Spectacular image overall but I tend to agree with Mike the colours are a tad overcooked (I should talk right?) but then I am using a new computer and not 100% sure of this monitors colour performance although so far it seems fairly good.

Tom don't change a thing from the original post trying to please others as you should know art is in the eye of the beholder and often when basing changes on the opinions of others we can stuiff it up or go too left field.

Personally of the two I preferred the original (maybe with a tad less pink, pink and green are IMO just wrong) but thats just me, see what I mean !!!

I don't know about this one Tom. I found the first rendition more asthetically pleasing. I don't quite know how I would describe this. Maybe stark.
