How about a shootout between a 12mm Nagler Type 4 and a Meade 14mm series 4000 UWA?, or has anybody compared the two in say a 12" F/5 reflector like mine???...I would like to know because i have the chance to TRADE my Meade series 4000 UWA with a 12mm Nagler type 4.
Should I go for the trade?...or should i just keep my 14mm meade series 4000 UWA???

I wouldnt unless you place eye relief above sharpness

Didnt you sell a previous 14UWA only to get one again :) The 14UWA is a sweet eyepiece and one I wouldnt part with {big bugger though} plus you have a good power spread with the 14UWA slotted in your eyepiece kit

Yes, this is my second 14mm UWA, however, I like to experiment with as many eyepieves as possible!!! I am glad that I read what Geoff and you both said. I prefer sharpness over eye relief and I will more then likely just keep the 14mm UWA now ...Geoff, is the view "soft" towards the edges in the 12mm Nagler?...please explain what you see in detail!!!! :2thumbs:

Just that the one 12nagt4 I have looked through isnt the sharpest eyepiece out there on axis, when compared to others. We got sharper focus through a 22panoptic barlowed and the pentax XL.
Its subtle, but noticeably less sharp across the field than others.

The the 22 Balowed is really really nice.
Both 12 & 14 are very good Ep's in a high end Apo I don't see any differance in sharpness. But in a F5 the 14 seems to work a tad better.

Mark bettween what you buy and sell and comment on here and CN I would say Buy all that you can try them them sell what you don't like.
