I was reprocessing some narrow band image data I took at the end of Oct 09 and I thought this result highlighted the wonderful complexity of emissions in this relatively wide area quite well and you might like to see it?

Very nice Mike, Incredible detail in the entire field.
I am warming to this narrow band stuff. I might even have to give it a try one day.
Can you tell me any good web info on colour settings etc for these various pallets used for NB image compilation.

I love the complexity of this region and once again Mike you have produced the goods.

I do like to look at your work Mike, it shows how much detail is missing out of my NGC 2070 images
Excellent

Oh phew, always hold my breath when I post a repro ...some on here think it is oh so not Kosher  :P
Glad you all liked it ...no comment from Fred or Marcus Davies yet though  bah!...repro haters!
Bart, I did try actualy but there are so many fine stars every version I came up with was just not up to even my "just for fun standards", sorry
Hagar, the general rule is...?...there is none, just grab the data, reduce, align, calibrate etc as normal RGB and than away you go

Dave - Hmmm Steven Hawking would be very happy with that event horizon shot :confuse3:

 Magical shot there Dave. I don't think I've seen a shot that better conveys the sheer vastness, stark beauty and total emptiness of the enormous space 47 Tuc hangs out in. Suggest it's a bit black clipped though ... and perhaps it could use a bit more BLUE!! :P;) Dying to see the repro!
Nah, don't hate repros ... just NB! :P At least it still has stars!!! :D
I DO like the detail and the 3D effect you've got going on though - very nice!
Cheers, Marcus

And thanks Peter for your favourable comments about this FLI camera image  :innocent: When you getting that filterwheel for your STX any how?
Oi! Bartman, those purple stars rock, they are just like Hubbles

Exquisite Mike.. Truly inspirational...
sniff sniff.. smells like.... sniff... Star Birth! :)
You just have to love the detail and contrast provided by line filters.. not to mention the freedom in processing and unlimited repro possibilities.. Have you considered doing a HSO redo? or a HOO/HOS? what about LRGB mapped as [Ha + 40% SII + 50% OIII]L [Ha]R [SII]G [OIII + 20% Ha]B
If doing HSO, adding Ha to the OIII for Blue gives you a bit more of a Hb look rather than a straight OIII look, which also give you a bit more strength in the blues (which is always nice) :) and Lums for NB imaging should always be a blend of all 3 (or 4 or 5) narrowband channels, as if you use Ha as the lum, it will only really boost the Ha channel of the image, as they are identical.. you really want to boost all the channels various components, so the luminance (as in an LRGB image) should cover the full spectrum covered by the colour filters..
Wow.. Pretty sure most of that wasn't needed.. but hey, its the AM, I've not slept properly in a few days, and so now im babbling senselessly.. aaand I'm ok with that.
Anyway.... enough from me.

Because insomnia is awesome and i have nothing better to do... Here is a Sidonio of a Sidonio of a Sidonio image...
Same image, remapped as HOS for RGB.. sorry for the minuscule size, couldn't be bothered uploading a larger one... aaand excuse the compression artefacts.. couldnt be bothered sorting that out either :D
however, we all know how awesome the detail is, this just gives an idea of the freedom in narrowband imaging... just by swapping the RGB channels around we have a very different looking image, that is no more or less correct in colour balance than the original...
This is why us colourblind folk love narrowband images.. :D
PS - Mike, Hope my dont mind my having a fiddle with your masterpiece.. :D

Ah yum! VOMIT :eyepop:even has the carrots
he he no worries Alex, fiddle away my friend
Hmmm yes, I have tried a few different combos I guess  :screwy: and this one seemed to look the best ....that's not to say that I couldn't..?..REPROCESS it woohoo :nerd:

:D Im a fiddler from way back.. :) Yeah SHO is generally the most appealing view.. HS[O+H] usually goes nicely too, I've not tried an OSH or OHS before.. I suppose OHS would be interesting, bring out awesome blue detail.. Would probably be best on something like the veil...
