I am a bit confused about guiding framework in general so your help here will be appriciated.

Case-

I have a QHY5 and a NEQ6Pro mount (i.e ST4 standard); now from my understanding I download the QHY5 base drivers from http://www.astrosoft.be/ and the PHD software drivers from the same site? And I should be good to go!

1. What is Ascom for? Do I need this? So many drivers? Arghhh!

2. Once I initially install system drivers for QHY5, I can install software drivers for as many other software I use for example Guidemaster, QGVideo et.al is that right?

I know this is probably really simple, but I wanted to get the correct procedure so I can document and make a CD.

:help:

BTW - Happy New Year Everyone!

Hi Yugant,

You just need the QHY5 driver for windows and PHD, nothing else to get yourself guiding.

ASCOM is only needed if your guide program doesnt directly support the QHY5

You will need a RJ12 cable to connect the QHY5 guide port to your NEQ6 guide port as well.

Install driver, plug camera in, (actually i think it is the other way around), start PHD, select star, press guide.:)

Thanks Trevor,

Got the cable came with the QHY5, I am assuming NEQ6 hardware is supported by PHD and Guidemaster. Its new years and the weather looks yucky so I'll do some field testing at home.

Tempted to try Guidemaster over PHD as it has drift alignment support as well.

Great! I cannot get Guidemaster to work at all. So far this is what I have done:

1. Installed ASCOM drivers + update
2. Installed base driver for QHY5
3. Installed Guidemaster
4. Installed QHYPlugin for Guidemaster

And everytime I start up the program I get the following:
