Hi
I have just upgraded my PHD guiding software from Ver. 1.10 to 1.11.
The new version seems similar to the old but with a couple of exceptions.
I notice that when I open the "Brain" I can now see a couple of new parameters which are Max Dec Duration (default 150) and Dec Slope Weight (default 5.0). The help instructions with Ver 1.11 apparently have not been upgraded to include the above DEC parameters.
Could anyone please tell me what these new DEC parameters do and how I should go about selecting the optimum settings for my guiding arrangements which are a QHY5 camera on a Mak100 mm at f5?
Cheers Peter

I wouldn't use the DEC slope weight unless I had real expertise in PHD tuning - go auto instead.

So far no one I know in the PHD forums have achieved better results going manual over auto and tuning the DEC slope (up increases sensitivy, down lowers it.

If you think you are pushing guding past the seeing and over correcting your mount either raise minimum pixels drift before a pulse guide is issued (to the equivalent pixels / seeing to 1 -> 2 arc seconds) and / or lower your dec duration to limit your correction.

If you are yo-yo'ing - chasing the seeing - in RA raise the minimum distance before pulse guide is sent - raise the RA Hystersis and lower the RA aggressinve 10%. In DEC again raise minim distance and lower DEC pulse guides.

PS

Why isn't this in the Software part of the furoms?

Thanks Matthew - I take it that when in Auto DEC guiding mode Dec Duration and Dec Slope are inoperative? If so how do I make these parameters operative if I wish to have a play with them? Would you suggest and intial setting for them other than the default values?
Yes, I should have posted this in the software section.
