Hi all,

We are trying to chase down some freebie imaging software, as we cannot justify Adobe CS4 nor any other version of this type of software.

I have already obtained Registax and DSS, however, these programs will not assist in rendering nor significant improvement of an image after stacking.

I have tried an open source program called Gimp which is pretty cool, however, it is limited to 16 bit.....

I'm hoping the forum might be able to advise us of suitable cheap/free imaging software to at least give an OK result at the end.

Any help would be appreciated

Iris is free and has some good features.

Yes, Iris is very good. However it is somewhat involved to get familiar with. But once you are over with initial pain, it rules..

If you use Canon DSLR, then you most likely also have DPP (Digital Photo Professional) that comes with camera.
I use it almost exclusively for post-processing (curves etc, after stacking in DSS).
Also have a look at this thread, Fitsworks looks interesting..
