Can anyone reccmmend a reliable CD/DVD burner for use with a Laptop.
I have been using a Sony DRX-S70U-R, and was today advised by a
technician that a lot of the problems I have experienced were wholly
due to this drive being "picky" It would not load Sky 6, and several other
things also.I want to get a replacement that will not give me similar problems
Any advice appreciated, Gerald.

LG make a small footprint external DVD writer which might do the job.

Gerald as Simon suggests the LG are a good buy and relatively inexpensive.

I think there are quite a few CD/DVD R/RW available these days that are poor in performance. I have or have had about 20 CD/DVD R/RW 's in the past couple of years and only about 1/4 of them have been perfect. At the moment I have 6 in operation Sony/ LG/ Lite-On/ unknown, two are excellent, acer lap top and unknown in my HP. The lite-on in my main computer is OK if I don't write at maximum speed, The LG in the VCR/DVD for the TV is shocking and only reads about half the DVD's I have. The others a Sony and a lite-on are rarely used but seem OK.
