Secondly i'd like to congratulate iceman and everyone that has contributed to the site, it's really grown unbelievably quick since i visited last. So much info to digest here i'll have to get cracking :)

at the moment I don't have any astro gear, i'm still looking and learning about different hardware. i'm leaning more towards a telescope than binoculars as i want to take some nice pictures.

Laz, if you want to take Astrophotos you will definately need tracking. You have probably read a lot about it in here. I am about to give my TouCam a try and I am going to attempt hand nudging as my tracking method because I own a Dob and I don't have a tracking platform for it.

Come on all you Victorians/Melbourneites/Geelongities, tell Laz where to go. :P
Laz, an open/viewing night is put on by the, (insert your locale here), Astro. Societies/clubs, for the purpose of introducing those interested, to go along & view our glorious skies, & answer lots of newbie type questions. :newbie:
They also try their best, not to 'scare them off', by telling the real costs involved in astronomy. :scared:
If it's poss., when you get directions, get yourself along to an open night. Great fun with lots of good people....... :poke:
:D L.
