Hi there,

last night while imaging with the Toucam on K3CCDtool I forgot to uncheck the white balance box after setting it for a while. I started a AVI run and then half way through noticed that the colours were changing and I realised that I had forgotten to uncheck the box.

As it turns out this AVI produced the best image of 10 or so AVI's. I am curious if anyone else has had this happen to them and wonder if all the different colours made the difference in the image? Tell me if this has happened to you. Anyone got an explaination why this should occur?

Nope, not me. I normally "check" while I much about focussing, and then "uncheck" to shoot. I usually leave it 30 seconds or so.
Lately though I have simply used the "stored" settings from WcCTrl.
Maybe try it again, worth a shot.

Had something similar with the Neximage recently also using K3CCD. Can't say that I've got a really good handle on the right settings to use so I'm not much use for an explanation. My approach is a bit haphazard, I just play around with the gain with white balance checked or outdoor, fluro etc and select freeze (if I remember to) when the colour looks about right. As with you though a last avi on the night of the 28th came up better and with a deeper hue than usual apparently of it's own accord- whether this was settings or seeing changes (thin cloud passing by might have played a part) I don't rightly know.:confuse3:

cheers,
