Does anyone have any idea where I might pick up a set of installation discs for 10.4 OS X? Been hunting and no luck so far. I'm setting up an older G3 iMac to do some basic stuff in the OBS - like running a planetarium program while the other coputer is busy controlling a scope. I love these older machines that have so much left in them that it seems a rotten shame to junk them.

What are the spec's of the machine I know that you can install 10.4 on a G4 but I haven't heard of it being installed on a G3

Yeah. Ugly. Some G3's work and some don't. The difference is in the firewire port. You got one; you upgrade. You don't; you don't!

Grrr.

But if you own a Mac Computer it is perfectly legal to install any mac operating system on it if it will take it. Unlike with windows you have to have a sticker to install legally which means you can only install on one machine with Mac owning the computer is the licence

Hi Warren,

I'm not sure where you got that information, but I'm afraid it's not true at all. Apple does require that the operating system software is purchased and used within the "End User License Agreement" (EULA) conditions.

nope, dont think you can load 10.4 on a G3 imac?, firewire or not, too underpowered? my old G3 had firewire (long before PC's did hehe), O/S 10.3.9 is about as good as it gets for them i think?, anyway whats the point of doing that? cheap sobs, get a new one :)
