Just a bit of info for ya. Windows 7 does not include the codes to read bluray disks. Apparenty sony wants $30 per licence to read bluray disks so Micosoft didn't pay that and it's not in windows 7 so you can't view bluray disks directly from Windows 7 media center/player.

However, if you do buy a bluray drive, make sure you get powerdvd version 9 with it. Version 9 intergrates into Win 7 so when using Win7 as a media center, it adds a play bluray option to the on screen menus and it becomes part of the system. Magic ...

Considering the incredibly high asking price of Win 7 ultimate, its a bit rude for them not to pay the fee and thus include the codecs.

I have Power DVd 8 on my pc and the Blu ray emblem is in the start screen for it, so P DVD8 must support Blu Ray. Now all I need is a Blu ray drive :)

Power DVD8 came with my bluray drive and plays bluray disks ok but is unable to change regions on the drive. However, if using win7 as a media center and driving it with a remote control, you have to exit media center and start powerdvd8 to play a disk. Version9 inserts itself into the media center menus and integrates nicely.

I haven't seen win7 pricing from a .au source yet.
