My friend, who is saying with me, was born on the 4th January 1984.
In Australia the No.1 hit was "All Night Long (All Night Long)" by Lionel Richie.
She says this was really appropriate, as her mother went into labour at 7 pm in the evening, and she born at 6 am the next morning.
Spooky!!

Love the musician jokes on this site. I.e.
Two prisoners were waiting to be executed.
"Any last requests?" asked the jailer.
"Yes", replied one of the prisoners, "I love music, so before I die could you play me 'Everything I Do' by Bryan Adams'"
...and the second prisoner said;
"Kill me first."

Hi Enchilada, :)
I have a hard copy of the music charts which date back to 1956. I also have info on the pre 1956 music.
I use this info to compile special CD's.
When someone has a twenty first birthday I compile the No.1 songs from the year they were born onto a CD and present it to them.
It goes over very well.
Pre 1956, I can find music that was most popular and what was played on radio. Even get dates that would be within a couple of months of the release date.
Back then no one compiled any detailed statistics on music charts.
If anyone wants info on pre 1956 I can help with what I have.
Goodnight Irene, Ol' Blue Eyes, F. Sinatra............ UK

Hi Chris, Enchilada & All
Same for me Chris -- we were only born two days apart. Before I'd started the exercise, I'd of sworn it would be one of the early Beatles hits ie Please please me, I wanna hold your hand etc. But as jjj put it so succinctly later in the thread ... "Frank Bloody Ifield ..." Concur !!
And of course another oldie but a goodie --
Q: What do you call the guy who incessantly hangs around with a bunch of musicians?
A: The Drummer.:P
Best,
Les D
AUS: Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin
UK: Wand'rin Star - Lee Marvin
US: Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkels
Trivia: 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' started a ten week run at No.1 on the US chart. The duo had split-up by the time of release.
Can't complain too much , I guess...

Geez, I was born when Snoopy vs The Red Baron by Royal Guardsmen was No 1, no wonder my music taste extends to the alternative and wacky.
I suspect that you will find more about yourself by finding out what might have been playing in the background when your parents conceived you, usually 40 weeks before your birthday but with some licence to add or subtract if you don't like the result e.g. Mull of Kintyre or Aga Doo:lol:

I had that single by the Royal Guardsmen. My mother broke it into pieces and threw it in the garbage because I wouldn't stop playing it over and over and over and over and over and over, ad nauseum. If only she hadn't have let me know that it annoyed her so much I might not have done it.

Yes I agree entirely with you, the Beatles were the UK's second rate imitators inspired by the greatly talented and original Monkees outfit. The Jackson 5 broke up and the individuals never had another hit until half time at the superbowl a few years ago. Well Dana, she of course went onto great things on the X-Files, probably composed the theme song as well.;)

P.S. Even more daunting is coming to grips with the fact that a number of the mentioned songs were "Hits" when we were teenages.

"My old man's a Dustman" in Aust by Lonnie Donnegan
