Can I join avi file together?

If I have 3 avi files from an untracked Jupiter, all lasting approc 20 seconds, is there some way I canjoin them, and have Registax sucessfully align them?

Yes, 2 ways:

1) Open all 3 avi's together in Registax. It will jump from one to the other.
2) Use virtual dub to open them as a sequence and it will join all 3 together and you can save as a new avi.

I didn't know I could do this with Registax.

The issue with both methods is that because I had no tracking on each avi (Jupiter drifts across field in about 20-sec), I set the alignment box for the first avi, but when the second avi kicks in the alignment box appears to not find the target.

Registax usually asks you to realign when it skips to the next avi.

The other method (which is what I used to do) is use virtual dub to join them together, then save as bmp's, then use ninox to centre and crop them, so registax all sees them in the middle.

I'm not sure if you'd need to use RGB split to split them into RGB channels first, before using ninox.

I think I have rectified this: I was not multiselecting the avi files when loading them (Ctrl button), instead I was selecting them and loading them one at a time. It looks like it is working because after the first avi, it prompts you to select the next alignment point for the next avi.

Thanks Mike, I got it to work.

I did try to use Virtual Dub this morning but I was a bit tired, so the concentration was lacking. I am concerned about the wavelets and perhaps I am over compensating and trying to pull too much detail out of such a small image. But I am trying to just use my judgement to make the image "looka and feel" right.
