I have just purchased a LPI imager as I want to do some moon shots.
I already have a DSI II and have the auto star suite installed.
When I plug in the LPI it finds the camera and then says it will install the drivers but message comes up and tells me that there is an error and that there is not enough memory to install.
I have oodles of disk space as I have a 4gig memory and 320 gig HD and the computer is only 6 months old.

What do I do?

What operating system are you running on? XP or Vista?

Hi Frank,

I ran into this problem with my LPI on Vista with the Meade software. I found this post and this worked for me.

Hope it works for you!

Bloodbean,

Thanks for your help and the link. I managed to get the drivers downloaded but it happened via the web.
Unfortunately, now when I try and connect the LPI, Autostar tells me that it cannot find the LPI and to try again.
The red light on the back of the LPI does not stay on when I plug it in, it just flashes 3 times then goes out.

What do I do now?

Frank,

So did Vista install the LPI as a "Trust Webcam 14823" successfully? Also are you running 32bit Vista or 64bit?

Yes, it came up as installed "Trust webcam 14823". I am using 32 bit.

Strange I've never seen the red light go out once I've connected the LPI. Are you running through a USB hub? Have you tried a different USB port? In Device Manager is there any exclamation or question marks next to the LPI driver?

Troy,
Thanks for the help, I just turned my computer on for the first time since last night and plugged the LPI in and the light came on and stayed on. Then the install prompt came up and said do I want to install the driver for the LPI so I said yes and it installed and said "Trust webcam 14823" and once that happened the red light on the back of the LPI went out.
I am at a loss as to what is going on. Why would it have to reinstall the drivers?
Maybe if I hadn't said yes to the install it might have worked.
Very frustrating when all I want to do is take a picture of the moon.

Hi!
Try joining Autostarsuite.net and search through the posts there, I think this has come up more than once.
Cheers,
Gray.

Gray,

Had a look at the Autostarsuite site and joined as it looks very interesting.

It appears that it is all but impossible to run an LPI on Vista unless you are prepared to change your regedit settings and I am afraid that is way beyond what I am prepared to do. Not even positive that this works properly either. There seems to be conflicting stories.

It also appears that Meade will not be creating the drivers for LPI and Vista either. I could use K3ccd but not sure I can justify buying the software. I don't think the trial version will run a LPI.

I have a DSI II which I will use but I wanted to take avi files.

Thanks for the help and it is onwards and upwards I say.

Frank
