HI

My son uses Premeire elements 7 video/movie maker program,on his 6 month old lap top,we bought it new, sadly it came with vista.

he used to use ULEAD 10 for movie making, but that didnt work on vista

we bought him this adobe elements7,worked well untill we got internet

He will go on it,after 5 to 10 minutes, reports serious error, and shuts down,it doesnt work well when its not shutting down,we thought cookies might be the cause, but he regularly scans with AVG,so really got a "un happy Chappy" he loves movie making, uses a lot for school projects.

we paid over $150 for this software,i have limited knowledge on this computer stuff, but i would say theres nothing wrong with software, just
something is upsetting it,

this is more of a problem than that sigma lens,if any one has any thoughts on how i can get it fixed,or sugestions on another video/movie
maker program i can buy him,i heard there is ULEAD 11.

really hope someone has some helpfull advice,:help::help::help::help:

1) Please report the actual error, word for word.

2) Does anything else muck up?

3) have you installed anything new since this error started up (software OR hardware)?

4) have you tried uninstalling Adobe Premiere, rebooting the computer and then re-installing it?

5) if 4 doesn't work, uninstall it again, then create a new user account, log on as that user and then, and only then, reinstall it.

there is nothing wrong with Vista. Most software companies (and hardware companies) did unsavoury things - hooking into the kernel etc on earlier versions that was both completely unneccessary and suspicious imho. Vista puts an end to this in most instances. They also forced customers into buying brand new versions in order to get the software working, instead of providing free updates, which they were very capable of doing. Nothing but greed.

Oh, and I'd recommend running a scandisk, and also a defrag on his computer.

Does he have any AV software on the machine? If so, is it regularly updated, and what vendor?

I recently had similar problems on my father-in-law's computer with Photoshop Elements.

It reportedly crashed whenever he started the main module.

I ended up finding the EXE and changing the "compatability Mode" for the .exe to "XP", and that solved the problem. I still don't know why, as it had been functioning in Vista for months, but that did it.
