Well, been spending some time now setting up a remote control ability of my setup. Gave up so many time in the past due to complexity and drivers/software setting up and getting them working.
But recently i gave it another try, but not trying to have the software (Like The Sky 6) talking to the remote desktop directly etc. This time i just put everything i needed to control my scope, camera, guider etc all on the desktop inside the observatory, and made sure it worked fine there, then i just enabled Remote Desktop in Vista on my remote Desk in my office, and Shazzam:thumbsup:. Well, actually it did take another full day just to get RDT to work. Seemed Microsoft Disabled RDT on Vista Home Premium bu i didnt know that:mad2:, and took me a day for find a patch to fix it:whistle:. Anyway, once that was patched, it worked seemlesly.
Everything worked fine, and had suprisingly quick response. I did try VNC plus many others previously, but had a hard time getting smooth operations, or graphics.
I can run full 1920x1080 graphics, and still have speed refreshing the screen.
For those not farmiliar with RDT, it duplicates the screen on the remote PC and displays it on another PC anywhere, as if you were standing in front of the original PC, and in Full screen too.
The only thing missing for FULL control is the Dome rotating controller, like Maxdome, but "Locally" it costs tooooo much;), So im on the look out for a second hand one somewhere, or just get one overseas.
