Hi Guys,
Have always wondered this...
I have heq5 pro and use the ascom drivers, shoestring box, cartes, synscan 3.24 etc for controlling my mount. A standard setup that most people use.

My question is..
If the shoestring box sends signals to the motors, how can eqmod only need one cable from the pc to the synscan unit to do its work. Or is it only using it because it is already there and therefore does not require a cable to the autoguider port according to their website.

Regards
Kon

It is just bypassing the autoguider port. If you hit a slew button via the eqmod it makes the mount move by sending a signal downt the 1 cable connecting the puter to the synscan. Guiding is just doing the same thing by sending short pulses of slew commands.
I don't use this system as I have a QHY guider and use the guide port on it directly to the mount but it will work with the pulse guide.

Thanks for that...

EQMOD does some extra nice things too of course like letting you choose how big a jump each guide pulse is, whereas the slew/jump is fixed with the paddle controller.

You really have to have everything else in your guiding running perfect to get too excited about this I suspect (if anyone has perfect guiding I'd love to know how you did it BTW....!)
