I know maybe someone already covered this topic.
Like many of you I was faced with the drivers problem trying to run DSI Camera on my Vista x64. Since I have reasonably powerful laptop I decided to utilise VMware. After creating instance of Windows XP Virtual Machine I managed to install all the drivers and Meade Software without any problem.

Yep - a great way to run a machine Daniel. I use VirtualBox (from Sun Microsystems) rather than VMware because I find it faster, but essentially the same thing. I really like Vista for what it does best - run in 64-bit mode - and I can still run all my old faves under XP within a virtual machine without slowing down one iota. Don't know why more people don't try it - it's free!

Hey Chris, thanks for the info on VirtualBox, wasn't aware there was an Open Source alternate to VMware. Have had all sorts of fun & games trying to get a Toucam working under Vista :screwy:

Have you got all things working under VirtualBox/Vmware?
What software have you been able to get working?
I am just wondering if Say GuideCamera and Imaging Camera could be used under the VirtualBox. As well as ASCOM control of mount and other bits and pices. Like would Nebulosity, PHD, MaximDL, AstroART, StarryNight, StarAtlasPro, TheSky, CCDSoft, etc.

Whats been tried under Virtual systems. I would like to here from users who have manged this.

I should try out VMware sometime. I believe they also have a free version. I have got a sample copy of the full system curtesy of the convention they had a few weeks ago. My son thinks I should use it but he is biased as he is a systems engineer with VMware.

I called in to see him a couple of days ago. Tight security. You can't even approach the reception desk unless they look at you first. What a view of the harbour they have from the 29th floor.

Ok I have setup VirtualBox but have not loaded anything yet.
Chris, you mentioned you use this any feedback on how it handles Astro Software? Do you need to give it a lot of memory.
Have people tried this, does PHD guiding or Nebulosity work?
I will post my results. But would like to hear from others.
