Hi.

I've encountered an odd problem which trial and error has been unable to fix.

I thought I'd try and crop and centre some Saturn bitmaps in ppmcentre prior to putting together an animation.

I took 12 processed TIFFS (out of registax) into Photoshop CS3 and converted them into 8-bit bitmaps, then into a folder.

But when I add the folder into ppmcentre to crop and centre, the results are quite odd. Saturn is pushed up into the top left corner of each bitmap and appears distorted as if the X and Y parameters have been set different to each other. They have not.

I'm wondering whether it's due to the planet being close to the edge in a number of frames?

I've tried adjusting height and width, Cut X and Cut Y, etc...but nothing seems to work.

I also had to tick Force Process to make the program run.

Any suggestions????

Many thanks.

Hi Matt

No suggestions on ppmcentre as I’ve not got it, but if you have K3CCDTools there is a Planetary Align Wizard that aligned my 14 tifs from Saturn quite nicely – only a little bit of judder.

However, I have the Registered Version of K3CCDTools so I’m not sure if the free copy does this.

Another option, if you have Images Plus, is the Auto Planet Align function in there.

Failing that, if the file sizes are not too larger, if you wanted to send me the 12 tifs I could punch them through K3 and IP.

Cheers

Dennis

Cheers, Dennis.

Will follow up with my free copy of K Tools tonight... and then email the tifs if that fails.

I'll try a few other things, though...before making work for you:)
