Hi folks,
had the lum for this one since Nov last year.
Have had to wait for the moon and also weather before
I could get the colour data for this.

Very faint object and as usually could have used more data
but DLST is a killer if you have to get up for work the next day.
damn our state gov for extending it for a month:mad2:


There were some gradient issues, but have finally worked out where
from. Had all led's taped up, except my KVM device.:doh:
So hopefully no more background extraction routines.

Rich that is really quite an excellent image, your image processing is really very good. As you know I am not a noise-a-phobe but in this case I think the delicate nature of the object suffers just a bit with the excess noise. Might be an idea to take a few steps back and back off on the noise a tad and see what it looks like?

I wanted to image this but it is in a big field of not much with my KAI11002 chip so I decided that due to my limited access to imaging time these days I'd pass on it. Your tighter FOV suits it perfectly though :thumbsup:

I agree with Mike that it`s a excellent image. All those fine filaments really stand out so nicely. Like you mention more data would really help but it`s a beaut shot as is.

The blue channel was a bit muted and probably should have binned the rgb's.

I agree with you about the 'over sharpening' on the red component within the object.
I find processing things with this large monitor, its high res and in PS, my images at 100% only fill up about 2/3. If I go to say 134%, things are all pixelated. The only thing I don't like about PS.
To get an accurate view I save the project then view it in Firefox. This way I can enlarge and get exactly how it will appear on the web.
It's a pain, but I might have to do it as a standard in future to ensure I haven't over pushed things.

I can see what you mean with a bigger chip. If it's a small object, then you really need to have something else in the fov... or you waste all that real estate...

The colour gets you in, then you have a read about how they are created and it becomes all the more fascinating.
