Yep, My M42 as well

Hi team.
Well everyone is on the M42 thing, and while a friend and forum member visited the other night, we experimented a little with tracking/guiding programs. It seemed only logical to image at the same time, just to be sure. M42 was the choice, more due to the full moon being present than anything else.
Yep, plenty of room for improvement, but nice to at least be able to look up and see the stars, and not clouds.
Mewlon 180 with Mogg .5x reducer mounted on G-11 . Nikon D100, 7 exposures each 90 seconds. Stacked in P/Shop.
It would be interesting for Rob to post his result, as he downloaded the exposures to his laptop as well, and sent me his rendition.

That looks great! i saw the M42 for the first rime tonight. My girlfriend found it by fluke.

What kind of telescope + EP did u view that image with gbeal?

Hi Frosty,
it is a magnificent sight, in any scope.
I imaged it with a Takahashi Mewlon 180 (7"), and no eyepiece, it was at prime focus, with a focal reducer. (To make the image smaller, and brighter).

Nice gary, stars are nice shape and I would think that if you did seven at two minutes when the moon disappears then that shot would improve out of sight. Colour needs a little tweek so that the red is more evident and so too for the blue. Other than that very impressive.

Thanks for the credit... As Gary mentioned this was a team effort, but we both had ago with the processing. Here is my result using exactly the same "raw" images as Gary. All stacking & processing done in Photoshop.

Great work Gary and Robby.. it's really interesting to see the difference between the processing efforts, they both have a different look and feel. I'm not sure which one I like better.. personal preference in the end I suppose.

But definitely should be sent into S&S!
