View Full Version here: : CS3/Adobe Camera Raw
I've just recently upgraded to a Canon 40D and Photoshop CS3 and am wondering whether I need to download Adobe Camera Raw, or whether CS3 already has RAW capability/functionality?
I suspect the latter, but for some reason my computer's struggling to open RAW files in CS3...
It also doesn't identify RAW files as being as such. It just shows a two thumbnails, which I know are a RAW and JPEG version of the image. I have my camera set to capture both.
Thanks.

i know cs4 resolves this issue but there must be a plugin or patch that fixes this for CS3 - have you tried to look up an answer to your question?
Yes, David...I'm having a fair squizz around the web...but I thought I'd also put the question out there to the PS gurus here on IIS.... just in case. I hope you're OK with that?
Hopefully Omaroo or RB will chime in.
If not, I'm sure I'll eventually resolve the issue.

Yeah...I saw that too on Adobe's website.
Not to worry.
I'll work it out tonight when I'm home and have a little more time to trawl for downloads.

and here http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles_FAQ .
Have downloaded the relevant Adobe Camera Raw plug-in...for the 40D
And I'm happy to say it's working like a charm:)
Yes Adobe releases new RAW converters as new models come out and you need to download these for your particular model.
Sorry I haven't been around much lately, too busy.
Glad you got it sorted.
