Anybody compare these two in a scope?...I was thinking about trading my 8.8mm UWA series 4000 for an 8.8mm series 5000. What i really need to know about is eye relief, blackouts, edge performance, compared to each of the two eyepieces. Thanks!!!

I've been after a 8.8 series 4000 for a while - if you're looking to get rid of it I may buy it off you.
Sorry but I can't comment on the actual topic of the thread, though I will be interested to read any replies. Unfortunately I don't think anyone around here owns either, to be able to have done a comparison.

Silly question time.
Why do you want to trade it? From all reports the 8.8 s4000 is one of the best eyepieces Meade ever made.

I want to trade it because I don't like the short eye relief...that's the only thing I DON'T like about this EP, everything else about it is good !!!...I actually think that the 14mm UWA series 4000 is the ULTIMATE eyepiece that Meade EVER made !!!!!!

Geoff, I used to own a Pentax 7mm XW and I don't know WHY I sold the darn thing because personally I think that Pentax makes the ultimate eyepieces on the planet. I let the disc of Jupiter drift into the field stop and it was still as round and crisp as if it were right in the center of the eyepiece !!!!....Amazing eyepieces those Pentaxes !!!
I will get me another one !!!!!
