24 hour laptop battery?

Yeah Dave, a while ago I was listening to a PODcast that was discussing the next generation of batteries that should achieve really long life and not degrade with charging/discharge cycles. I can't remember now if it was on a Naked Scientist program:shrug: or Starstuff:shrug:...

Nanotubes had something to do with it...

Anyway, I'm not totally surprized by the news but I wonder if they are really there yet...

For the price it would cost to upgrade to a laptop with 24hr battery life, you could build a power box like Andrew (RB). 12v 112AH 800CCA deep cycle battery, 1000w 240v pure sinewave inverter, couple of 12v cigarette lighter sockets etc etc.. and have plenty of spare change...

That would run your mount, cameras, laptop, dew heaters etc for quite some time...

Pros:
Power for everything you use, anywhere you go.
Long battery life.

Cons:
Heavy.

I'm curioous about the Ah ratings on these EliteBook 6930p notebook's batteries.

I recently bought a couple of 6600 mAh batteries for my old Dell Inspirion 5100 , and as far I could see the highest available mAh rating on note book batteries is not much more than that.

I would be hesitant to buy a HP btw based on personal experience with them, but wouldn't hesitate to buy another Dell.

I wouldn't be surprised. Those new HPs are very power efficient. I have a mate who uses one to guide and capture. He runs on batteries and get 10 hours. I'm lucky to get 2-3hours on my Toshiba idling :lol:
