Excellent article Jeff and Scott, thanks.
Couple of questions I have about this process.
You mention the file names are the center location of the field, how do you get these numbers?

If you want to identify the Asteroid from a known database i assume then this would be required. So I assume then it is better to use a capture software that can capture the frames direct to Fits file with the header containing the relevant information gathered from a connection to the Telescope.

To do a manual star match in Astrometrica it needs to know the approx center of the field. To do this I have the field open in Guide 8 (any starmap would do) and write the center of the field into the image file name.
eg
22h 45m 32.1s -12d 33m 45s would be 2245321-123345.
Thus I will always have a copy of the position.
If you set it up Astromentica will query a star database online.
Load Astromenica and look at the tutorials it's pretty straight forward.:)
