What Is The Best Way To Set Up 2 Monitors

hi all

as the title suggests ive got 2 monitors hooked up to my nvidia 7600gt


running the clone setup what i see on 1 i see on the other)

ive read that some users here can move their mouse across and allso drag stuff across?

ive used the nvidia control panel to get it working sofar

any hints are welcome :)

all capable of setting them up horizontally and or vertically

Just right click on your desktop, choose"Properties". Next go to the "settings" tab. You'll see your two monitors. Click on the number 2 monitor, then check the box "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor".
You can then set its size, and move it in relation to the number 1 monitor so that the layout mimmics real life. Now you can run your mouse between them. Fine tune the position of the monitors in the tab to get the mouse crossing just right.

The two NVidea video modes that you would be interested in are 'dual-span ' and `horizontal span'.

Dual -span gives you seperate desktops, which you can drag windows between monitors . If you maximise any window it will maximise to that individual monitor. In `horizontal span' mode if you maximise a window it will maximise over both screens, which is good if you expect to have many windows open within one program.

After installing NVidea drivers you will have an NVidea logo on the taskbar and right click to change your options. When in horizontal -span mode your monitor resolution modes will be twice normal ie. 2560 X 1024 instead of 1280 X 1024.

thanks for the replies

ive tried it works for as long as i dont have to reboot, after i reboot it just crashes, diagonal lines ect ect, ive set each monitor up with different resolution ect ect no luck

it maybe has to do with the fact one is a anoloque monitor and the main one is digital ?

as afar as going to desktop properties> settings> no luck there iether just the one monitor rocks up so go figure :)

There's a drop down box "Display" where you have to choose 'Multiple monitors' for your set up.
There's no problem with one digital and one analogue, that's what my set up is.

I love dual monitors at work with the laptop and an LCD. Couldn't live without it now.

At home I have to suffer with just the laptop!

but forgive for being maybe a bit dense this morning (early)

i suppose you have to have the 2nd monitor attached for the drop down box ?

i dont remember seeing one with it attached iether ?

Yep it'll have to be attached.
