What suggestions do you have for displaying images on line.
Personally I'm looking for something to install on my current webspace but maybe a public one would be better?

Many use Pbase, including Mile Sidonio and Greg Bradley for little cost and great effect. I use Google pages, its free and easy to set up. Why dont you just use your webspace?.

I've tried to get Gallery installed on my web space a few times and it won't. I got it to install on my unix server here just fine, but the pipe is too small. I'm not keen on spend hours doing custom web pages. Web pages ain't my bag man :)
[edit]
I'll have another go at a gallery install on a new unused website in the hub. That is the software that pbase uses and it works well.

Coppermine or Gallery2 are some of the most popular for your own gallery site.
Or use wordpress with some of the good gallery plugins. Some of them are very good.
Or if you don't want a website as well, pbase, flickr, picaso, etc.

wow, that was quick, very professional, top work Robin.
Is it hard to set up coppermine, do you need to be a coder to tackle it?.

Nope, dead easy. I don't have shell access on the webserver just ftp, so unzipped it here and ftp'ed the whole show to the server then connect to it with a browser and run the install script using a browser.
It needs access to an empty mysql database and an imaging program on the server. I have both available on mine.
Once it's up, login as admin and run the config option to set themes, add users etc and it's away. Login as a user, create some albums and start uploading images into the albums. Just what I was looking for :)

Nice work, Robin. Coppermine is pretty good. I'm using it on my gallery (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/mygallery) here on IIS and my new site i'm setting up uses coppermine too.

How did you get it to display catagories as default. I'm guessing don't add any users, just admin.
you left the 'r' out 'gallery' on the link you listed.

Thanks, Fixed.
I don't have any users set up, and have turned off comments etc as well.
You added your sub categories under a user gallery. If you add the categories to the root level, they'll show up by default.

Cheers, I'll screw around with it abit more.
It's stopped raining here and it's clear as a bell outside. About time .....

Thanks for the help Mike, I've got it sorted just the way I want it.
Might get a domain for it to get it away from the work crap.
