Congratulations Fred.

Even the boys with the 20 inch RCOS's haven't gotten that sort of detail from M8 before!

Top work Sir Fred

This is without a doubt, the best narrowfield image of the lagoon I've seen. I've said it in previous posts and I'll say it again...This image captures the imagination of the the viewer. A truly remarkable image and very inspiring. Well done.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

well, Im overwhelmed by your responses guys, I truley appreciate your replys, Im gunna get sooo drunk tonite, im in heaven :D, and yes Jase, I am very indebted to your input, your prompting of eliminating the stars was a critical factor in the images success I think, for that I thank you very much indeed.

Mike, bull****, I envy your consistant image quality, you win every comp going, I aspire to your sucsess, cut the crap, cam (gear) dont matter, for example this was with a Meade, go figure :P. I think this image was more to do with uniquness, not the cam. Your image quality is more than just a cam, and anyway, the FLI aint exactly 2nd class, what are you on about?

Hey, hey only being lighthearted mate

Even Rob Gendler isn't quite sure how the APOD guys choose images (although they feature just abou every image he sends'em), heck they have repeated images only months apart three times this week, so go figure

Now, don't drink too much :drink:

Wow!! 1000 hits on the site in a day or so... :) Thats what I call a bit of coverage mate....

Yeah, If you plan on getting on APOD again you may want to invest in a site that can handle a bit of bandwidth.

Congratulations Fred - :prey2:- well deserved! A nice example of how the "art" in astro-imaging (& processing) is on the rise and being more widely appreciated and accepted.

Cheers, Marcus

Congratulations Fred.

This type of processing makes me shudder however. Maybe the next image you should submit for APOD are the stars without the nebula, at least it will form a complimentary set.:)

Thanks Steve, Eric, Renormalised, Paul, Marcus, Steven.

Im overwhelmed by the responses, much appreciated (its Dietmars turn now).

There is oft reference to "artisic", I must say, not much actual procesing went into this (other than star removal), its a puzzle how it turned out, but thank you any way.

Your image has something that is hard to define. On thinking about it, it is because it reminds me of a cloud on sunset just before it engulfs you as you fly into it. The superb detail hiding the potential mountain within.

These days you can say how lucky we are. Technology has come along way. Long enough to safely say how life has been technologically aided to become so simple, but credit cannot be taken away in this case from the individual and hand to technology. You have some serious talent.

Bassnut
17-07-2008, 09:17 PM
Bert, "hard to define", yes, if I only knew how, I would apply the trick to all my images , its the one image I have submitted. I wish the others were so worthy ;). Others here have the image quality consistancy I aspire to.

Peter, yes of course, technology has improved in leaps and bounds. As the CWAS awards show, inovation then is the next step after technology, I hope to make a mark in the future there.

Thanks Mike. :)

I never really left. I've just been a bit quite on the astro front lately, still pop in now and then to keep up with what's going on.
