Hi all,

I'm interested in taking some widefield shots using a tripod mounted dSLR, and would like to stack multiple exposures. Does anyone have an opinion about which software is best for this application? I already have PS7, and I'm considering trying Registax and DSS, but thought I might as well find out what others are using first.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Stephen

DSS without a doubt for widefield.
Registax is more suited for planetary/lunar work

RegiStax for videos.

DSS for large MP individual files. So you want DSS.

It's easy to stack small numbers of files in PS once you know how. If there's field rotation or some other distortion involved then I would recommend not trying in PS.

RegiStar is another option suited to large files but is not free like DSS.

for fixed tripod images that you want to rotate and stack, nothing like DSS

Thanks for the info, I'll give DSS a go!

They are both very useful programs Stephen and both are free software.

DSS would definitely be better for the widefield work you mentioned.
