Panoptic 27mm advice

I've decided to shelve my original plan of getting a Denkmeier D21 , as I can't forget the view through MikeyB's Panoptic 24mm. So now I'm looking at the Panoptic 24mm, but have noticed that for an extra $46 I can get the 2" diameter Panoptic 27mm. I'm aware that the Pan 24mm is popular for binoviewing, but I do like more glass of the 2" eyepieces.

Has anyone got any experience or recommendations using the Panoptic 27mm?

Fox here (how's the Radian 6mm going?). I have the 27mm Pano, and in a nutshell I find it to be a stunner of an eyepiece, gorgeous views right to the edge. ER is very very comfortable. Because I have an F5 Genesis, sometime I am in two minds that the power is too low on most objects, but then when I swing it over to Pleiades or Eta Carina, the over 3 deg FOV is truly overwhelming under a dark sky. It's always a toss up between FOV, mag, brightness and contrast. Fox.

Thanks for that. I have read a few one liner reviews on Anacortes that say "great eyepiece", but nothing in detail about what is "great". I'll be using a 10" dob, but from what I've seen of the Panoptic 24, I'm impressed, and won't be disappointed which ever Pan I go with. I was surprised at how natural and easy going the Pan 24 was, taking on an almost 3D effect compared with the Nagler.

The Radian is currently pressed into Saturn, Jupiter and Lunar viewing, although I also use it for looking at nebulas and galaxies. I can use this ep most viewing nights. Managed to see 6 of Saturn's moons under dark skies a few months ago. Can make out better cloud band details on Jupiter.

I'm refining my current eyepeice kit(s) so I will have the Radian, Nagler T6 13mm and hopefully a Panoptic 24mm/27mm as my travelling eyepeices for when I go to viewing nights. My other eyepeices will stay at home.

Sounds like you have a good plan to have a few quality eyepieces...good plan!

While I can not speak for the 27 mm...I have the 24 Pan and adore it. I also have the 21 mm Denks that I use in my Binoviewer they are pretty special too.

I think that either are hard to pass up in terms of performance in that eyepiece range.

I have a preference for staying with the 1.25 inch format and so the 24 Pan is my workhorse "lower" power eyepiece...and it suits me well.

I don't want to end up carting a suitcase full of eyepeices around the planet, hence the sit down and plan before you buy session. Appreciate your recommendation for the Pan 24 as I really liked the view and it is popular for binoviewing. By the time I've managed to get the funds I should have decided which way to go.
