Is this software worth the $45 and will it be easy to use with a Nikon D40?

I use it all the time on my Canon (that's when the clouds will let me :P ) and it works a treat, but it doesn't work natively with non-canon cameras. You have to point it to the directory that contains the remote capture files. I also heard a rumor, and that is all it is - a rumour, that Chris Venter isn't doing any more upgrades so I don't know what future support will be like.
It is much more expensive, but have you considered something like Images Plus. It will work plus you will have a first rate program for the initial processing of your images.

I think this thread would be better placed in the Software & Computer section where software is discussed.
But I do agree with all Pauls comments

I think it is more than a rumour Paul. ...have you checked the DSLR focus yahoo group?

Hi prova - I am in no way an expert but even I find DSLRFocus easy to use with my Canon 350d. It was easy to install and use.
I have read that new and some non-Canon camera's are not supported. So check before you buy as there are no upgrades or ongoing support.

Thanks all, maybe that's why Chris Venter hasn't replied to any emails with some questions I had re: his software and the D40
Kinda hate to ask but is there anyone here that has a spare key that I can use to just see if the Nikon works ok with it?
I do have the latest version of the software so if anyone can help me please send a PM .. much appreciated

I haven't seen or heard from Chris Venter in aaaages, so I don't think it's a rumour.
I use ImagesPlus for focusing and camera control, and it's regularly updated with the newest cameras.
