Apart from vlounge (don't use it :)) there's QFocus.

k3ccdtools is what I used. It is free, you only need version 1. You just need to re-do the key every 2-3 months (no big deal).

I also use K3CCDTools.

I think it's quite good. There are a few things about it which I don't like, such as the refresh rate of the preview screen which looks cluncky on my screen, but apart from that it's pretty good.:)

Stark Labs have a free one. Its called Craterlet (http://www.stark-labs.com/craterlet.html). Only used it once or twice so can't comment on how good it is.

I used to use K3 when I had my Toucam--no complaints there. I haven't used craterlet, but Stark labs are pretty good (I use PHD and am playing with the demo version of nebulosity), so I imagine that craterlet would do the job it was designed to do and do it well.

I use a version of Amcap with my SPC900NC that has been customized by Noël Danjou and is available as a shareware? version here (http://www.noeld.com/updates.asp). Very easy to use and more customizable than the original Amcap.

Hey Marko.

I used to really enjoy using Amcap. It comes free with the Celestron NexImage webcam. I thought it was actually better than the camera itself!

Haven't used it since I sold the NexImage ages ago, but since you've pointed out it works with the ToUcam I might download it and give it a try.

Paul - Craterlet looks quite good. Nice-looking interface. Looks like an Apple prog. I'll give it a go too.

V1 is OK Eric, but it is missing a lot of bells and whistles. V3 is well worth the $45 (or whatever it is in $Aus these days) being asked. Wait til you learn to polar align with it, you'll wonder how you ever did without it. ;)

shed some light re polar alignment with a toucam? dot in the centre of screen and see if it moves or? *shrugs* thanks :)

 No not quite. K3 can be used to measure the arcsec/min drift in both Az and Elev. By using the normal drift method but with K3 instead of a Reticle I can get a polar alignment accuracy in 30 min that would take you hours (if not longer) with a Reticle.

Check this thread http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=30794 for some details.

I too am Scrooge through and through, but have the full V3 of K3. It is a good program, and the support after the event is exceptional.
