Louie,

You could always borrow Andrew's and try it, he has 1.

Also the 6th August sounds good for me, I will check with Andrew to see if he can make it. Gary Kopff won't be there, he will be checking out Houghy's new 9mm Nagler at Astrofest :)

iceman
27-07-2005, 01:35 PM
Sometimes, depends on your provider. You will get CDMA, you may get GSM.

cahullian
27-07-2005, 01:55 PM
hey Anthony ever though of charging an entry fee? You would make a killing and get yourself some hard earned $$$ for bits and pieces lol

ving
27-07-2005, 02:08 PM
with optus gsm

frogman
27-07-2005, 03:12 PM
If you stand on your right leg with your right arm holding your left ear while whistling ..... you might get a bar.

Hmmmm entry fee...... NO . New toys would be nice BUT... id rather hae people come up annd share my nice dark skies...

Ummm Geoffs field is still growing and is not long enough to mow. Id rather not just yet... wnat it to grow before we use it.

iceman
27-07-2005, 03:16 PM
I didn't mean that field, I meant any field up there..

Will be there with bells on.
Also wants to run a book on how many of us Mike will blind when he turns up..... lol

iceman
02-08-2005, 08:04 PM
haha! I want to try and get there early this time, but leaving my wife with 3 kids sometimes means I can't get out until after 6:30pm.

Anyway weather looking ok so far:

Rodstar
02-08-2005, 08:34 PM
Count me in too this Saturday. And my mate Shane Rigney is likely to be there too.

cahullian
02-08-2005, 10:24 PM
6.30 is still late enough to blind a few of us lol

ving
03-08-2005, 08:52 AM
well that'll make you easy to spot! :P

wavelandscott
03-08-2005, 01:51 PM
While not completely certain, I am 63.2789% confident that I will attend.

If so I will bring along my 12.5 in Discovery Dob and assorted eyepieces etc.

I hope the weather (and my wife) cooperate with my plans...

I am assuming that the earlier map is sufficient for an idiot (me) to find the place...keeping in mind that finding my way out of a wet paper bag is sometimes a challenge...can someone tell me who the "best" emergency direction giver is just in case I do get hopelessly lost...

Thanks!

iceman
03-08-2005, 02:58 PM
Would be great to see you (and your dob!) there, Scott! The map is very easy to follow and will get you there, however if you get lost give me a call. PM me and i'll give you my mobile #.

wavelandscott
03-08-2005, 05:44 PM
It is okay to be honest and say mostly the Dob and eyepieces (11 Nag T6, 24 Pan and 7 Pentax XW and 2.5 Powermate)...I am used to that...

My own Mother used to claim that she had to tie a bone around my neck to get the dog to play with me...

Rodstar
03-08-2005, 08:47 PM
Scott, did you know that 67.83% of statistics are made up?

seeker372011
03-08-2005, 09:04 PM
um ...er...Rod, I believe it is actually 67.857 354 %

12.5 inch Dob plus 11 Nag T6, 24 Pan and 7 Pentax XW and 2.5 Powermate ..hope that probability aproaches 1.0000 quickly

does anyone know if Hector is going to be there?

wavelandscott
03-08-2005, 09:44 PM
50% of the time they are made up...statistics never lie...but liars do use statistics...

I hope I can go too!

ausastronomer
03-08-2005, 10:21 PM
Narayan,

Andrew is going to Ilford (AS of NSW site) for the weekend unless the weather is bad Friday and clears Saturday in which case he will join us at Kulnurra.

wavelandscott
06-08-2005, 10:16 AM
Okay, I can confirm that I will attend...

What time are people likely to show up?

Any helpful suggesstions for first timers?

Cheers!

ving
06-08-2005, 10:38 AM
yup... bring a scope :P

weather look superb! :D

iceman
06-08-2005, 10:46 AM
Weather does look great!

I'll be there at 6:30pm tonight, some people get there before dark to set up (5ish), others any time after that.

Bring a red light, your scope + eyepieces. :)

Follow the map, you'll find the entry and you'll see the cars parked in the paddock across from where you enter.

Louie is usually among the first there, save me a spot Louie! :)

ving
06-08-2005, 12:39 PM
i'll prolly be there between 4.30 and 5...

bring a chair, a sky atlas or charts if you have any, some munchies i guess, a hot drink, warm clothes (it may be cold)....

what facilities are there?

ausastronomer
06-08-2005, 12:57 PM
As explained to Mike on the phone I probably won't be there till 8pm or thereabouts. I am bringing a dew shield for Mike and a sheet of HIPS plastic that would be sufficient to make a dew shield for an 8" dob if anyone is interested. C U all there :)

PS I will be scopeless as the wife has her car at work and thats what I normally use to transport my scope. It is finished however, well almost.

CS-John B

ving
06-08-2005, 01:02 PM
