I just bought a second hand 90mm f/11 Vixen refractor. It's about 10 years old but still does a decent job. The moon is crisp and there's not much chromatic aberration. Saturn looks wonderful (if a bit small).

The only problem I'm having is that the eyepieces are a bit average. I'd like to use my plossls in it, but the Vixen EPs have an odd diameter - about 1 inch instead of the typical 1.25. The right angle adapter on the scope is 1 to 1, too, and if I unscrew the mounting part that the right angle adapter fits into, it's another size again - bigger than 1.25" but less than 2".

I've had a quick look on the bintel web site, but didn't see any 1 to 1.25 inch adapters. I could make one I guess, but I'd rather get one that's properly made - if such a thing exists. It's a bit of a difficult one to Google, so any advice happily accepted.

The old 0.965" format of yesteryear... :confuse3:

Google "0.965" eyepiece adapter" or something like it, and you will find what you are looking for, including this link:

Do make sure you read the text as you need quite some extra focus travel to make it work... :)

Check on the outside of the eyepiece holder on your 0.965 focuser. Some have a thread on the outside which is the same thread as the filter thread on a 1.25 inch eyepiece. On these, you can simply screw your 1.25 eyepiece on to the end of the 0.965 focuser tube.

Cheers,
Jason.

Thanks for the info... I would not have realised .965 was the measurement until I'd done a lot of searching. It turns out on close inspection that the right angle finder has a collar that comes out to accommodate a 1.25" EP. So I guess it's a 1.25" holder with a .965 converter!
